Mindbrowse and Sssh.com are hosting their annual seminar at XBIZ LA, an event series designed to explore industry-wide issues and cultural shifts.<\/em><\/p>\n

Chicago \u2013 Mindbrowse and Sssh.com<\/a> are pleased to announce they will be hosting the seminar \u201cWhen Demand & Rejection Collide: Anti-Porn Activism in a Pro-Sex World\u201d during next week\u2019s XBIZ LA show.<\/p>\n

Organized and moderated by sociologist Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals<\/a>, the event will take place on Tuesday January 4 from 3 \u2013 3:50 pm PT. Featured speakers include Siri Dahl, Ana Foxxx, Siren SaintSin, Domino Presley, attorney Corey D. Silverstein, and the FSC\u2019s Mike Stabile. The event will also be live streamed on Twitter via @ssshforwomen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistorically, the wider social world has always had an uneven relationship with the adult industry community and sex media, one that vacillates between two broad perspectives: anti-pornography activism and pro-pornography fascination,\u201d Dr. Tibbals explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur wider social world is currently in a period of anti-porn sentiment, one that\u2019s being elevated by noteworthy mainstream media outlets alongside banking and payment processing entities. All this, while sex work is more visible — and more visibly leveraged — than ever,\u201d Dr. Tibbals continued. \u201cWe\u2019re going to be discussing various tensions that emerge when society continues to double-down on \u2018hating\u2019 something that it clearly loves during this event.\u201d<\/p>\n

During \u201cAnti-Porn Activism in a Pro-Sex World,\u201d speakers will discuss current tensions existing between the industry and the wider social world, including the blurred lines emerging when variable individual demands for sex work (from consumers as well as workers) brush up against wider social repudiation. Speakers will also discuss strategies to continue moving forward as productive community in this current social climate.<\/p>\n

As always with Mindbrowse events, Dr. Tibbals will invite questions from in-person, as well as virtual, audience members.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event marks the ninth time Mindbrowse and Sssh.com have produced and hosted the large \u201cbig picture,\u201d think piece-level seminar seeking to explore industry wide issues and cultural shifts during the XBIZ LA show.<\/p>\n
