Chicago –\u00a0 \u201cThe Devil in Miss Jones,\u201d written and directed by the legendary Gerard Damiano, considered to be one of the most significant films of the \u201cThe Golden Age of Porn\u201d will showcase a new 4K restoration in honor of its 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary at New York City\u2019s Cutting Room, appropriately on\u00a0Halloween Night,\u00a0October 31st.\u00a0<\/sup>The film\u00a0will be presented\u00a0live by Damiano\u2019s son Gerard Damiano Jr. and\u00a0daughter\u00a0Christar Damiano. The evening\u00a0will kick off with a costume contest and 1970s themed dance party.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur father will always be known for \u2018Deep Throat,\u2019 but he went on to make much better films,\u201d son Gerard Damiano Jr. says. \u201cHe would rather be remembered for his later work, particularly \u2018The Devil in Miss Jones.\u2019 He was very proud of that, especially the performance by Georgina Spelvin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Virgin spinster Justine Jones (Georgina Spelvin) takes her own life only to discover that she is condemned to hell without ever having really lived. She begs for a second chance and vows to live a life \u2018Consumed by Lust\u2019 before accepting her eternal fate.<\/p>\n

Following its original release in 1973, the film earned critical acclaim, proving that writer\/director Gerard Damiano Sr. ‘s success with \u201cDeep Throat\u201d was no fluke. It was reviewed by the major critics of the day \u2013 icons of film criticism and exemplified what was then referred to as \u201cPorno Chic.\u201d\u00a0Celebrities, and dignitaries stood together with the general public in lines that wrapped around the block, just to see it. \u201cThe Devil in Miss Jones\u201d made Variety\u2019s list of Top 10 Grossing Films for the year. Its original score by Alden Shuman is considered to be one of the finest movie soundtracks of all time. An unusual accolade for a porn film.<\/p>\n

Newsweek called it \u201cThe most interesting film of its kind to date.\u201d\u00a0Judith Christ praised star Georgina Spelvin in New York Magazine.\u00a0Variety called it \u201cA Sensation!\u201d Even Roger Ebert gave it a \u201cthumbs up\u201d. Not all the reviews were favorable. Vincent Canby panned the film, starting a feud between himself and Damiano Sr. that played out in the pages of The New York Times.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Devil in Miss Jones\u201d has received a complete 4K restoration performed by Cineric Inc., (who premiered their restoration of Hitchcock\u2019s\u00a0\u201cSpellbound\u201d earlier this year), from the best existing 35mm elements. It was\u00a0produced by the Damianos, who gave the same treatment to their father\u2019s best-known work \u201cDeep Throat\u201d last year, before taking it on a world tour for its own 50th Anniversary.<\/p>\n

The Devil In Miss Jones Halloween party at The Cutting Room will feature acclaimed New York City DJ, Crystal Clear who will be playing the best of the 70s, a costume contest and some notable guests from the adult industry including RubyLynne, Victoria Zdrok, Alana Luv, Addis Fouche, Lacy Doll, Stella Carter and Lucy Sunflower who will also be featured at the Damiano Films booth at the Exxxotica Expo in Edison, NJ from November 3rd through 5th.<\/p>\n
