Detroit @ Kansas City
The Lions are much improved, and the Chiefs always start the season slow. Can’t pick against them. Chiefs win.

San Francisco @ Pittsburgh
Y’all know I am always suspicious of West Coast teams traveling East but it’s early and SF should be fresh. 9ers win

Miami @ LA Chargers
Two nerdiest coaches in the NFL. Chargers are home. They win.

Dallas @ NY Giants
So sick of the Cowboys. Giants are better coached, at home with an arguably better roster. Giants win.

Buffalo @ New York Jets
What a great matchup. Monday Night Football, Allen vs Rodgers! NY Jets take this game.

Kansas City over Detroit: Despite the Kelce injury, it is still Patrick Mahomes who might be the best QB to ever play the game.

Pittsburgh over San Francisco: I expect the Steelers to upset the Niners at home. Their defense is fully healthy, and their offense will surprise people

Chargers over Miami: Their newly acquired offensive coordinator will fully unleash Justin Herbert and all their weapons.

Dallas over New York Giants: Dak Prescott has won 10 straight games against the Giants with the last loss coming in his rookie season. I expect the streak to continue.

Buffalo over New York Jets: I expect this one to be close but give me the more experienced team with the better QB play.

Sean’s PVM Picks…

Thursday –

Detroit @ Kansas City – The Lions are the favorite to win the NFC North this year so this game should be competitive. The Chiefs have too many weapons. Chiefs 27 Lions 17

Sunday –

Carolina @ Atlanta – Rookie QB Bryce Young gets the start for the Panthers against a retooled Falcon defense that stunk up the joint last year. Desmond Ridder leads the Falcons, but they will rely on their ground attack in this game. Atlanta 27 Carolina 20

Houston @ Baltimore – The Ravens are the AFC’s version of the Cowboys; they get all the hype but never win anything. Ah, but this is a new year and hope springs eternal, right?

Ravens 32 Texans 17

Cincinnati @ Cleveland – At this time it appears Joe Burrow will be starting for the Bengals. If a revamped Bengals line can keep Myles Garrett from using Burrow’s head as a seat cushion, this should be a Bengals win. Bengals 24 Browns 21

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis – The Colts start the season with a new coach and quarterback. The AFC South Champion Jags should win this game easily. Jaguars 32 Colts 17

Tampa @ Minnesota – Baker Mayfield takes over for TB but this game will come down to the Vikings passing attack against the Bucs defense. This could be the start of a long road this season for the Bucs. Vikings 34 Tampa 24

Tennessee @ New Orleans – The Saints are the favorite to win the NFC South with the addition of at QB. It’s hard to figure the Titans. They’ll be good, but how good? Saints 30 Titans 23

San Francisco @ Pittsburgh – Let’s see if the Brock Purdy continues from last year. This game will hinge on the ability of the 49ers line keeping TJ Watt and friends off Purdy’s neck. If they do so, he has a ton of weapons to use. Kenny Pickett and the Steelers are good, but they’re not elite yet. 49ers 27 Steelers 20

Arizona @ Washington – Only good thing about this game is Dan Snyder is no longer the owner of the Commanders. What a taffy-pull this game is. Washington 24 Arizona 17

Green Bay @ Chicago – Chicago may be the most over-hyped team coming into this season. If Justin Fields doesn’t get off to a great start, things might turn ugly quickly in Chicago. Speaking of over-hyped, there is a ton of pressure on Packers QB Jordan Love. Many Packers fans are already predicting the Hall of Fame for this kid. Talk about a spoiled fan base. Packers 27 Bears 24

Las Vegas @ Denver – The Broncos brought in Sean Payton to get the team and Russell Wilson back on track after a disastrous season last year. The Raiders swapped Derek Carr for Jimmy Garoppolo. That’s like swapping a Ford for a Ford with a nicer wax job. Denver 24 Raiders 20

Miami @ Los Angeles Chargers – Justin Herbert came off an outstanding season last year but so far, he’s proven to be the reincarnation of Dan Fouts. Tua Tagovailoa had a solid season as well when he wasn’t getting his brains scrambled. Both teams have great weapons which should lead to a high-scoring affair. Chargers 34 Dolphins 30

Philadelphia @ New England – If you like blowouts, this game is for you. Eagles 34 Patriots 17

Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle – Geno Smith finished last season as one of the best QBs in the NFC. He’ll have plenty of weapons to keep it rolling. Let’s face it, the Rams are rebuilding. Seahawks 27 Rams 20

Sunday Night –

Dallas @ NY Giants – If Dak Prescott doesn’t feel the pressure to have a breakout season, then somebody should check his pulse. Pressure is also on Giants QB Daniel Jones as well. Giants 30 Cowboys 24

Monday Night Football –

Buffalo @ NY Jets – If you haven’t heard, Aaron Rodgers is the new QB for the Jets. There hasn’t been this much excitement about a Jets QB since Joe Namath broke out his white cleats. Unfortunately, the road to the Jets Super Bowl starts and ends with the Bills. Buffalo 34 Jets 27
